Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 0.38%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Construction, Software and Technology sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.38%, while the MDAX index fell 0.45%, and the TecDAX index lost 1.02%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR:CBKG), which rose 1.35% or 0.21 points to trade at 15.73 at the close. Meanwhile, RWE AG ST O.N. (ETR:RWEG) added 0.87% or 0.25 points to end at 28.83 and Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (ETR:BMWG) was up 0.82% or 0.64 points to 78.98 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Siemens Healthineers AG (ETR:SHLG), which fell 1.73% or 0.90 points to trade at 51.20 at the close. Brenntag AG (ETR:BNRGn) declined 1.40% or 0.82 points to end at 57.88 and SAP SE (ETR:SAPG) was down 1.34% or 3.20 points to 236.30.

The top performers on the MDAX were Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (ETR:BOSSn) which rose 2.10% to 44.78, United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) which was up 1.75% to settle at 15.67 and Tag Immobilien AG (ETR:TEGG) which gained 0.91% to close at 14.36.

The worst performers were HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) which was down 4.27% to 11.76 in late trade, Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which lost 3.98% to settle at 8.19 and Hypoport AG (ETR:HYQGn) which was down 3.34% to 168.10 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were 11 AG (ETR:1U1) which rose 4.83% to 12.60, United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) which was up 1.75% to settle at 15.67 and PNE Wind AG (ETR:PNEGn) which gained 0.73% to close at 11.08.

The worst performers were Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which was down 3.98% to 8.19 in late trade, Bechtle AG (ETR:BC8G) which lost 2.45% to settle at 31.10 and SUSS MicroTec SE (ETR:SMHNn) which was down 2.41% to 48.65 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 365 to 277 and 41 ended unchanged.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 4.64% to 14.96.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.60% or 15.76 to $2,616.14 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.32% or 0.93 to hit $71.53 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.94% or 0.69 to trade at $74.48 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.38% to 1.04, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.83.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.23% at 108.04.
