U.K. stocks higher at close of trade; Investing.com United Kingdom 100 up 0.11%

Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Pharmaceuticals & Biotech, Insurance and Gas, Water & Multiutilities sectors led shares higher.

At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.11%.

The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Airtel Africa Plc (LON:AAF), which rose 3.13% or 3.30 points to trade at 108.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Smurfit WestRock PLC (LON:SWR) added 2.41% or 100.00 points to end at 4,245.00 and Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) was up 2.04% or 2.55 points to 127.50 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Frasers Group PLC (LON:FRAS), which fell 3.35% or 21.00 points to trade at 605.50 at the close. Spirax-Sarco Engineering PLC (LON:SPX) declined 2.81% or 195.00 points to end at 6,755.00 and Entain PLC (LON:ENT) was down 2.49% or 17.60 points to 690.00.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 916 to 801 and 705 ended unchanged.

Shares in Frasers Group PLC (LON:FRAS) fell to 52-week lows; down 3.35% or 21.00 to 605.50.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.53% or 13.89 to $2,631.21 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 1.07% or 0.74 to hit $68.72 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 1.09% or 0.79 to trade at $71.77 a barrel.

GBP/USD was unchanged 0.31% to 1.25, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.20% to 0.83.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.41% at 107.79.
