U.K. stocks higher at close of trade; Investing.com United Kingdom 100 up 0.04%

Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Industrial Metals & Mining and Insurance sectors led shares higher.

At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.04%.

The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which rose 5.42% or 129.50 points to trade at 2,520.50 at the close. Meanwhile, IMI PLC (LON:IMI) added 3.29% or 58.00 points to end at 1,820.00 and Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) was up 2.38% or 13.00 points to 558.60 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were BAE Systems PLC (LON:BAES), which fell 4.88% or 63.00 points to trade at 1,227.00 at the close. JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:JD) declined 1.55% or 1.60 points to end at 101.80 and Berkeley Group Holdings PLC (LON:BKGH) was down 1.47% or 62.00 points to 4,148.00.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 928 to 779 and 726 ended unchanged.

Shares in Berkeley Group Holdings PLC (LON:BKGH) fell to 52-week lows; losing 1.47% or 62.00 to 4,148.00.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.68% or 18.04 to $2,682.84 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.12% or 0.08 to hit $68.64 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.58% or 0.42 to trade at $72.36 a barrel.

GBP/USD was unchanged 0.08% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.14% to 0.83.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 106.02.
